ABOUT JACQUES VAN ZYL
Jacques has been a professional hunter for the last 20 years. His keen interest in hunting started at a young age when visiting family farms in Namibia during school holidays.
At the age of 21 he decided to follow his passion for the bush veld and studied under Kobus Schoeman to obtain his professional hunting license. After which, he worked at Ubundu Game Lodge in Bela Bela, managing the hunting department. From 2005 he started working for various safari companies as a freelance professional hunter, specialising in big game.
Jacques has extensive experience in hunting in the rest of Africa, from Cameroon to Zambia, Namibia and Mozambique. The Mozambican safari industry that caught his eye in 2007, and here he pursued his dream of owning safari areas outside of South Africa. From 2008 to 2020 Jacques owned and managed concessions in Mozambique spanning from Sofala Beira, to Maua Niassa Province. From these camps Jacques specialised in big game hunting, specifically elephant, leopard, lion, buffalo and the plains game of sable and Livingston eland.
Since 2010 Jacques has focused on building his South African hunting footprint - due to the ease of access to the country for clients, and variety of species available to hunt. South Africa offers a range of hunting opportunities for all levels of hunters.
What sets Jacques apart from the apack is his genuine love of hunting, and the pure joy he gets from seeing his clients achieve their hunting goals. Whether it be shooting your first buck, to finally getting that special trophy that has been on your list for years - every achievement is celebrated (often with an ice cold beer!). Jacques leads every safari that is booked with him. Clients become friends, rebooking each year to hunt with Jacques and his team.
